A close to 2010

2010 has come and gone but it will be a year we will never forget. Lyle graduated medical school and ended our long run in school. We then moved into our first house where we have all enjoyed spreading out a little. It has been wonderful! For so long I have dreamed of spending the holidays in our own home. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas this year have all truly been dreams come true for me. Ella started Pre-K in a new school and Luke started school for the very first time. I started a new research job and Lyle began his first year of residency. Although, we are all still getting adjusted and trying to plant some roots in this new city, the move has drawn us closer together. We are so blessed and haven't forgotten who we owe for it all. To him who watches over us, loves us unconditionally, and makes our dreams come true, thank you.

We don't know what to expect in 2011 but we pray it will be as good as 2010.

Our Christmas Day Guests!

The fun continued on Christmas Day. Our family from Dallas came up to celebrate with us. Mims and Pa, and Landry and Elizabeth brought the kids up. We had such a great time with them.

We took them on a tour of the city and let the kids play at the park...a bit cold for the park, but they needed some outside play.

We then had to get to the most important part...opening presents!

Here are a few pics.

Thanks so much you guys for coming up! It was wonderful sharing Christmas with you all at our home. We hope to see you soon! We love you!

A shout out to Uncle Logan and Aunt Amber

Hey guys. So the plan was to take video while the kids opened the gifts you sent but for some reason Lyle took pics instead. So sorry. The kids loved the dump truck and you guys got Ella her first Barbie! She was thrilled! Thank you! You are so sweet to them! Hope you are staying warm out there in CO!
Here are the pics that were taken instead:

A Christmas Never to Forget

This year was our first Christmas at our own home. Every year before we have traveled but this year we were in our new house and stayed at home. I have to say it was amazing. There are no words to describe how wonderful it was waking up Christmas morning with the kids in our own house. As Lyle put it..."this is the best!"

This is what the kids woke up to Christmas morning.

A few pics of the fun.

Did I say this already...This was the greatest Christmas!

Christmas Eve

Let the fun begin!!!

A few quick family pics before we head to the Grandparents.

We starting the celebrations by visiting with all my aunts, uncles and cousins on my dad's side of the family. It is a tradition we have had my entire life. The kids opened presents while the adults did white elephant...something we started last year and it really fun.

Then we went to Christmas Mass and although I had to take Luke out twice, it was a wonderful service and gave me time to reflect and give thanks for how truly blessed I am.

Then we exchanged gifts between by mom and dad, siblings, nieces and nephews! I love this time!!

The kids waited patiently for the presents to be handed out!

Ella and Eliza loved the Ant Farm, uncle Craig and aunt Lauren! I have to say...that ant farm is awesome! You guys should really get one for yourselves!
Here is a clip of them opening the farms:

One final picture with Grandma and Papa before we head home. Thank you guys for a great Christmas!!

Christmas Break...Our Family Feast!

Every Christmas, we take one evening during the holiday madness to have a our own Christmas dinner. It always starts by having a "Fancy" dinner (as Ella likes to call it).

The kids couldn't keep their hands out of the appetizers!

The main course this year was Chicken stuffed with Brie and drizzled with Cherry Sauce. It was delish...but most importantly it looked very festive!

Ella wanted to make the night even better so she worked very hard all day to make special presents for everyone to open after dinner. She made heart hands! We traced her hands on red paper and then cut them out and glued them together in the shape of hearts. She then decorated them with pretty Christmas stickers. I was impressed with the idea. Luke loved his! He gave it a big hug and said "Thank you, Sissy!" Ella was beaming! My heart melted!

After dinner, we all played a big game of Hide-n-Go Seek! Daddy, Luke and Ella had a great hiding place!!

Christmas Break...a post for our Friends in Chicago!

I have been emailing some friends of ours from Dallas who moved to Chicago in the summer. She was telling me how freezing it was there with temps in the low 20's. So when we had two days during our break with the temperature in the 70's I thought of them. Wanted to share these pics with you guys hoping it might make you feel a bit warmer!

The kids rode bikes and played outside all day which is great because the last couple of days, it was in the 30's and we couldn't go outside at all. We were all starting to climb the walls!

But with it feeling more like springtime than Christmas time, I thought we would make popcorn strings to keep us in the Christmas spirit! This was our first time making them and a word to the wise....always do them outside! It was messy. It was a lot of fun though mostly because Luke decided for some reason he wanted no part in the popcorn stuff and would rather ride his bike so Ella and I got to sit comfortably and make the string.

It hung over our door way all through Christmas. It was my favorite decoration this year!
