Can anyone find Luke?

This was Luke's hiding place one night while him and Ella played Hide-N-Go-Seek. Ella and I both thought it was pretty clever...and very funny. He soon figured out an even better spot and on his next turn he really had sister stumped.

Best Grocery Store Trip EVER

Most grocery shopping trips for me are a total nightmare. I so wish I could just leave them in the car while I run in like my mom used to do us. However; on this day, it was great! I knew it was getting dangerously close to Luke's nap time but I wanted to squeeze in my weekly Sunday grocery store trip. Knowing that I was most likely setting myself up for a complete disaster we went. BUT.... apparently Luke was so tired that he laid his head on Ella's lap and fell asleep while she sang him Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. He fell asleep within the first 10 minutes! It was a miracle and unfortunately not likely to happen twice!

Daddy's Spring Break: Part 2

One of Lyle's goals this Spring Break was to plant a garden in the back yard with the kids. He kept the kids out of school with him all week and they planted this garden while I was at work.

My only request was that they planted tomatoes so they did but they also planted watermelons, strawberries, and cucumbers! I asked Lyle what he was thinking (they will never fit in that little garden) he just said that is what they wanted! So, I guess we will see. I am imagining a whole backyard covered in watermelon vines!!

We will keep you posted!

Daddy's Spring Break: Part 1

Daddy had the whole week off last week so we took advantage of the time and made a quick trip to St. Louis to visit our very dear friends, Amy and Chase.

We rolled into town about 3:30 and after some great pizza (just a side note, Luke doesn't like pizza...not any kind...won't take one bite. Isn't that weird.) Chase took us over to the beautiful Forest Park..which is a GIANT park in the middle of the city that was the site of the World's Fair in 1904. It is amazing with museums, flower gardens and a zoo which is all 'Free'! It was a perfect for our first stop because after being in a car for 6 hours the kids definitely needed to burn off some energy!

We then got drinks at the Boat House, a restaurant on the lake in the park where the kids were able to feed bread crumbs to the ducks. There were a ton of them and they were very aggressive. We would put pieces of bread on the kids' shoes and they would quickly snatch it. A huge hit!

All that was fun for the kids, but nothing was as great the hotel! They bounced all over that room, I was surprised management didn't ask us to leave!

The next day we went to the zoo. The kids had loads of fun riding the carousel and the little train.

I love this pic...something about seeing those two grown men packed in that little train car makes me laugh everytime! Thanks for being such a sport, Chase!

A trip to St. Louis wouldn't be complete without visiting the Arch and the Mighty Mississippi River! It was a beautiful day for it but very windy!!

Then the part Mommy and Daddy looked forward to the most...a Cardinals game. The Archers treated us to a great game which happened to be opening weekend so the kids got free shirts...Ella immediately put hers on. The game was great...so beautiful. The stadium is only a couple of years old and it is awesome. The kids made it all the way through 7 innings!

Thanks for the weekend, Amy and Chase! It was great! Hope to see you again soon!
