Luke and Mathletics

The first graders were introduced to a computer game called Mathletics this year. Its a fun game where kids can play other kids online and earn points to get medals. Their teacher can track which kids have been doing it the most and how well they are been doing it. If they get a medal online, she gives it to them the next day at school. Luke loves this game! He will literally play it for hours! If I can't find him I can usually bet he is downstairs playing mathletics. Well, all that hard work paid off for him because towards the end of school this year he was given the Top Student Award for Mathletics. His principle gave it to him on SBTV which is their school TV channel. It was a big deal! I was really proud of him.

4th Grade Mother's Luncheon

At St. Brendan, the 4th grade class hosts a Mother's Luncheon. Ella was very excited about it because they prepared for it for about a month she said. I was excited too! First, we celebrated Mass in the classroom. It was super nice. All the kids performed some part of the mass and then had a special recorder song prepared. After mass we followed the kids over to the church hall across the street where we had donuts, bagels and other breakfast food with our child. It was simple but a nice little break from the ordinary. I loved spending time with just her!

Boys night out to the Giants Game

Lyle took Luke to the Giants game one weekend. They were playing the Chicago Cubs. From what I heard it was a pretty great night. It was bat night so all the kids got a free bat and ball. Pretty cool! So wish I could have gone!!

Annabeth and Potty Training

I started potty training Annabeth a couple weeks ago so we made the trip to Target to get new panties and a potty seat. Just like the other two I made it a really big deal and got them treats (M&Ms) for when they went to the potty.

We also made a potty chart for her. She was super excited about it but the excitement didn't last once she realized what she had to do to get a treat and a sticker. For a week I worked hard to get her use the bathroom. I thought maybe I started her too early and we needed to hold off. But the mom in me said to just keep going and she will get it. I didn't want to confuse her by stopping and starting. Then the next day it clicked! She has done great ever since! I'm so so proud of her! Of course Big Sister and Brother are very excited for her too and love helping her with her sticker chart!

San Francisco is the best for Kite Flying

The kids got a cook kite for Easter this year and we have been so excited to try it out. What we found out was that kite flying it super simple in SF. Nothing like back home where you had to run with the kite. Here you literally just throw them up and they take off!

I took Luke and AB to ride bikes and fly kites down at Marina Green. Perfect, wonderful day!

After the kite flying, Luke worked out on the crossfit station. It was a pretty cool setup! He would spend every minute there if he could.

Annabeth the Cat

Annabeth has found a new favorite spot in the house up on the back of the couch where she can look out the window. She reminds me of a little cat.

Swimming in SF

I think one of the biggest adjustments for us moving to SF is not having a swimming pool. That may seem silly but we were so used to going to one every single day in the summer that not having access to one has been weird for us. When we got here last summer, we didn't know anyone so we weren't sure how to find a pool. But things have gotten better and we have been introduced to several pools now. Most of them are in private clubs and cost a ton of money to go to for one day or are in Marin which is about a 30 minute drive up north. Doesn't matter though. Swimming is essential for us so it was great when the kids got to go again. It was AB's first real time and she loved it! She was swimming by herself before it was all over! These pics were taken at the Golden Gateway Pool Club with our friends the Colbachis.

Scooters on the Boardwalk

We were getting a little tired of hanging out in the house one Saturday so I loaded up the kids and their scooters and headed down to the beach for a quick energy burn off. It started off super great! The weather was great and and the kids were happy. AB wouldn't ride in her stroller but we were used to that by now. About 10 minutes into our ride, Luke wiped out trying to do some crazy stunt his sister dared him to do and the fun was over! He had a pretty big gash in his hand but he was pretty brave and pulled through the pain to let us enjoy the beach for a little while. These kids always keep me on my toes!
