The Peabody Ducks

Ever since we moved here, so many people have told me to take the kids to see the ducks at the Peabody hotel down by the river. So, last week we finally did it. Apparently, every morning the ducks are lead down to the fountain in the middle of the hotel where they splash all day then at 5pm a big performance is put on and the ducks waddle out of the fountain down the red carpet and up the elevator where they stay until the next morning.

We got there at 4 so we had about an hour to kill until the ducks left the fountain so we explored the hotel. We road the big glass elevators up and down the 19 floors. Luke loved it...Ella hid her face most of the time...the kid has a HUGE fear of heights.

We walked around the hotel gardens down by the river....it was actually cool outside if you can believe it.

We had fancy drinks at the hotel bar....no mine wasn't a hard drink although after about an hour of killing time I really wanted one:)

And finally the big moment! The guy in the red jacket told the story behind the duck tradition and I wish I could share it but I really couldn't hear. Then they played marching music and the little ducks walked straight out of the fountain, down the steps, along the red carpet into the elevators! You could tell they had done it many many times! It was super cute to watch and the kids got a good chuckle out  seeing those ducks in the elevator.
