This past Sunday Lyle and I ran our first 10k in the Little Rock Marathon. It was great!! We ran the 5k last year and got addicted to the excitement of race day. We decided then that we wanted to do the 10k the next year. Here we are after the race. It was freezing cold that morning (27 degrees!) but there were so many people crammed onto the streets that we really weren't that cold and really warmed up once we started running. We both did really well and are planning to do another one soon. We are even contemplating a half for the grand finale of his 5th year of residency:)
Lyle took this pic while we were waiting for the race to start. It was really packed and we were way in the back. It took us 15 minutes just to get up to the starting line.
Here were are getting closer to the start
My brother and sister in law ran it with us this year. This was pretty easy for them. They are used to doing half marathons but took it down a notch for us:) Thanks for running with us guys!! It was fun!

Spring Soccer is here!! Luke finally gets to play!
Soccer season kicked off this weekend. We are always so excited for it to get started but were really excited this year because Luke is finally old enough to be on his own team!
First up....Ella's game on Saturday at 8:30 in the morning. Spring soccer is always cold but this was ridiculous! It was 32 degrees on the field with light snow coming down! We were cold! But Ella still did a great job and was happy to snuggle with Lyle during half time:)
Luke had his game later that afternoon and let me tell you he was EXCITED!! No more wearing sissy's uniform, he has his very own!
And cool new cleats!
Lyle gets to be the coach this year as well. Which he (Lyle) couldn't be happier about! Just a side note in this picture, I forgot that Luke was supposed to wear his white jersey:( He was none to happy about that but got over it once the game started:) He had a great time and did pretty well! He ran really hard and made two goals!
Here are his two buddies on his team. Will and Landon. They decided on the team name Red Dragons. Should be an interesting season!

Little things we love about our kids
This past Valentine's Day, Lyle and I wanted to do something to let the kids know about the little things they do everyday that makes them special too us and makes us very proud. So I picked these dry erase boards up from Target and put them on the fridge. Everyday, Lyle and I would write new things we loved about the kids.

Sweet cards to remember
The kids were very quiet tonight working on something in my closet. I was a little nervous about what they were doing but they were being so good that I decided the peaceful quietness was worth the inevitable mess so I let them be. Not long, they emerged from the closet with these sweet cards. I took pics of them and wanted to post them so I could remember them in the future.
The first is Luke's. It is a little hard to read in the picture but it says:
Dear Mom, I love you. Luke
Sissy told him how to spell it.
Here are the cards Ella wrote. So sweet. I hope they always feel this way!
We love you too kids!

Happy Valentine's Day
Here are beautiful Valentines my kids received in the mail from our family in Texas. Thank you Mims and Pa for the candy and presents. The box was on the front porch when we got home from school and the kids ran to get it before I could even get into the garage!
Belle, Brooks and Blake...we love you too! Thank you for the sweet cards! We hope to see you soon!
And this is the card from my sweet husband! Thanks, babe! I love you too!
The kids also enjoyed some surprise chocolate chip pancakes before school.
I think they had a pretty good Valentine's Day, don't you?

You know you are really sick when......
you lay in bed so long that your hair looks like this!!
Ella has been sick this past week with some sort of virus and hasn't gotten out of bed for about 3 days. Poor thing! It took some DEEP conditioning to get a handle on that mess!

Family movie night
On February 1st, I set out the Valentine's Day mailboxes again which created huge excitement from the kids:) They were sooooooo happy to see them on the mantle with the flags raised after school. I usually fill them with little stuff like two hershey kisses, but this past Friday I made some movie tickets and stuck them in the mailboxes. They squealed with delight when they found them.
I had picked up the movie Brave from redbox earlier that day along with some pizza. We pulled the couch up to the TV and hung our red theater curtains for special effects. It was fun....only sad part is daddy didn't make it home in time. He had an emergency surgery come up at the last couple of minutes and couldn't get out of the hospital. Oh well, I guess it just means we will have to do it again soon! One thing is for sure though.....I need a new camera!!!! My old iPhone 3 just isn't cutting it anymore!
